Focus on the human body
Expertisium of the Aesculap Academy opened in Bochum

The focus of the Expertisium in Bochum is on the human body. The showroom is the centrepiece of the newly opened Aesculap Academy. Designed by ATELIER BRÜCKNER, its exhibition illustrates the areas of medicine covered by B. Braun and Aesculap and how individual components are closely interconnected with each other.

The interior design looks like a spacious, clearly structured laboratory. Large graphics – reminiscent of X-ray images – provide insights into the anatomy of the human body and serve as a scientific backdrop for presentation of the products. On show are current products for hospitals, innovative consumable articles as well as high-quality medical instruments and prostheses. They are shown on the scientific graphics, positioned according to their specific medical use.

The eye-catcher in the exhibition is the "Anatomic Person", a large interactive installation. It summarises the treatment domains of B. Braun in an intuitively comprehensible image. The thematically dedicated areas are arranged in a circle around a five-metre high, human figure. A terminal is provided that the visitor can use to interact with it individually and to ask for detailed information on the treatment domains.

On their way through the exhibition, the visitors are guided from one innovation to the next. The first exhibition area is dedicated to clinical supplies with the necessary infusion systems, pumps and disposable items. Other exhibition areas showcase current know-how relating to all aspects of minimally invasive surgery and orthopaedics as well as neuro, vascular and spinal surgery.

Finally, a historical overview of the milestones in the company's past and in the history of medicine is offered by eleven stations along a 42-metre long ramp leading up to the second floor of the building. In the "Competence Centre Surgery" here, individual consultations are offered. The inserted cube is fitted out with cabinets all around it and, with just under 10,000 products, impressively and concisely demonstrates the variety of special surgical instruments made by B. Braun Aesculap.

Like the headquarters in Tuttlingen and the branch in Berlin, the Aesculap Academy on the Bochum Healthcare campus provides advanced certified medical training. The new showroom enables people to obtain information on the company, what it does and what its current products are.
